Why Cursor Referral Discounts Require a New Account

One of the most common support questions: “I have a referral link but checkout fails.” In most cases the Cursor account is not new.

Why old accounts fail

Cursor referral invites target first-time purchasers. If your account already paid for Pro, Pro+, or Ultra, Cursor redirects away from Stripe referral checkout — even if you export fresh cookies from the same login.

What to do instead

  1. Sign out of Cursor completely (or use a new Chrome profile).
  2. Register with an email never used on Cursor before.
  3. Do not purchase any plan until you finish the referral checkout flow.
  4. Export cookies from that new session and try again.

Start here: Get Started — secure checkout. Your credits are only charged when a valid Stripe link is returned.

Still stuck?
